Crash near Honokaa closes Highway 19 Monday morning (April 13)

UPDATED (2:06 p.m. on 4/13/2015)

Traffic near the 49 mile marker of Highway 19, between Honokaa and Waimea, is now open to both lanes after a crash closed the roadway earlier.

UPDATED (12:26 p.m. on 4/13/2015)

As of 12:26 p.m. police report that one lane of traffic has re-open on Highway 19 near the 49 mile marker. Traffic is being contra-flowed around crash site.

Hawaii County Civil Defense audio message

Hawaii Police Department reports that Highway 19 or the Hawaii Belt Road near the 49 mile mark north of Honokaa is closed to all traffic due to a motor vehicle crash. Emergency crews are on scene, however it is unknown when the road may be reopened. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to use alternate routes if possible.
