The lockdown at Kulani Correctional Facility in Hilo was lifted late this morning. All operations are back to normal. Families who had their visits cancelled today should call the facility to reschedule for tomorrow (Sunday 3/8/15).

Friday (3/6/15) evening, an inmate at the Kulani Correctional Facility refused to go into his dorm. Other inmates came out to see what was happening. Staff were quickly able to peacefully end the situation. A facility lockdown and investigation was initiated. All inmates were accounted for and no injuries were reported. The investigation is on-going.

Kulani is a minimum security facility.
