2015 maintenance­ schedule for county parks

MEDIA RELEASE

The county Department of Parks and Recreation has announced its 2015 general­ maintenance schedule for Ahalanui Park, Isaac Kepookalani Hale Beach Park, Kahaluu Beach Park and Spencer Park at Ohaiula Beach.

These periodic, short­-term closures are necessary to accomplish larger­ scale maintenance activities without putting the public at unnecessary risk or inconvenience.

Located in Puna, Ahalanui Park will be closed between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month, except November.

The closure dates are:
­* January 14
­­* February 11
­­* March 11
­­* April 8
­­* May 13
­­* June 10
­­* July 8
­­* August 12
­­* September 9
­­* October 14
­­* November 18 (third Wednesday of the month due to
Veteran’s Day holiday)
­­* December 9

Located in Puna, Isaac Kepookalani Hale Beach Park will be closed on the third Wednesday of each month, except for March, and reopened at 1 p.m. the following day.

The closure dates are:
­­* January 21
­­* February 18
­­* March 11 (second Wednesday of the month due to Spring
Break)
­­* April 15
­­* May 20
­­* June 17
­­* July 15
­­* August 19
­­* September 16
­­* October 21
­­* November 18
­­* December 16

Located in North Kona, Kahaluu Beach Park will be closed until 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, except for January and October.

The closure dates are:
­­* January 13 (second Tuesday of the month due to Winter Break)
­­* February 3
­­* March 3
­­* April 7
­­* May 5
­­* June 2
­­* July 7
­­* August 4
­­* September 1
­­* October 13 (second Tuesday of the month due to Fall Break)
­­* November 3
­­* December 1

Located in South Kohala, Spencer Park at Ohaiula Beach will be closed all day on the following dates:

­*­ January 14,15
­­* February 11,12
­­* March 11,12
­­* April 8, 9
­­* May 5, 6, 7
­­* June – No scheduled closures
­­* July – No scheduled closures
­­* August – No scheduled closures
­­* September 8, 9, 10
­­* October 14, 15
­­* November 18, 19
­­* December 9, 10
