Fire destroys part of historic Humuula Sheep Station Friday (July 4)

Fire units responded to a 1:03 a.m. alarm Friday (July 4) to the Humuula Sheep Station off Mauna Kea Access Road for a fire.

Crews arrived to find Pohakuloa Training Area firefighters on the scene with the fire under control. Two historic wood cabins were destroyed and one quonset hut was 50 percent damaged.

There were no injuries in the fire and no roadblocks. The cost of the loss is undetermined. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    This is a real shame since these cabins have been around longer than me and I’m sorry to think they have been torched by a human fire bug
