Fire/rescue units responded to a 7:35 p.m. alarm Thursday (Dec 22) to a two-story wooden structure fire at 572 Manono Street in Hilo.
Crews found a vacant home engulfed in flames on the first floor with the second floor partially on fire. Electric lines to the home and neighboring homes were severed during the fire and arching.
Firefighters had the blaze under control at 7:52 p.m. and out at 8:05 p.m. HELCO crews controlled the arching electrical lines.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze and damage was estimated to be $75,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
