The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for South facing shores of all Hawaiian islands through 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct 5).
Surf is forecast to be in the six to 12 foot range today. The high surf can cause dangerous rip currents and beach erosion.
The large South swell is caused by a storm Southeast of New Zealand last week Wednesday and Thursday.
A Small Craft Advisory has also been issued for Maalaea Bay, Pilolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island leeward and Southeast waters until 9 a.m. Thursday (Oct 6).
