Help shape the future of NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary!

WHAT: Public scoping meetings on the future of NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary

PURPOSE: The sanctuary is currently reviewing its management plan and is seeking input on a proposal to expand its scope and direction to protect and conserve other living marine resources, in addition to humpback whales and submerged cultural heritage resources within the sanctuary.

August 10: Hilo – NOAA Mokupapapa Discovery Center, 308 Kamehameha Ave., Suite 109
August 11: Kona – Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort, 78-6740 Ali‘i Drive
August 12: Honolulu – Central Union Church, 1660 South Beretania St., 5:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m.
August 14: Lihue – Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, 4431 Nuhou Street, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
August 14: Kilauea – Kilauea Neighborhood Center, 2460 Keneke Street, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
August 16: Kihei – Lokelani Middle School, 1401 Liloa Drive
August 17: Lahaina – Lahaina Civic Center, 1840 Honoapiilani Hwy
August 18: Kaunakakai – Mitchell Pauole Center, 90 Ainoa Street
August 23: Haleiwa – Sunset Beach Elementary School Cafeteria, 59-360 Kamehameha Highway
August 26: Lanai City – Lanai High & Elementary School, 555 Fraser Avenue

TIME: Meetings will be held from 6 to 9 pm, unless otherwise noted above

WHO: Representatives of NOAA’s Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and the State of Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources
