Updated: Third suspect caught in Prince Kuhio Plaza robbery

Big Island police have located the third suspect wanted for a robbery on December 23 at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo.

Daniel Jordan Mills, 19, was arrested Tuesday night (December 29) and charged Wednesday (December 30) with second-degree robbery and second-degree theft. He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock in lieu of $7,000.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a third person wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery on December 23 at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo.

At about 10:18 p.m. on that date, South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at a kiosk in the shopping center. Later that night, police arrested 18-year-old Ocean Hegent of Hawaiian Paradise Park and a 14-year-old boy.

Both suspects were charged on December 25 with first-degree robbery. Hegent was also charged with second-degree theft.

Hegent’s bail was set at $5,000. The juvenile was turned over to the jurisdiction of Family Court.

Police would like to speak to 19-year-old Daniel Jordan Mills, whose last known address was in Pāhoa. He is described as African-American, 5-foot-8, 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers calls are kept confidential and callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000

Police are investigating a robbery Wednesday night (December 23) at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo.

At about 10:18 p.m., South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a reported robbery at a kiosk in the shopping center. Officers determined that a 27-year-old man was assaulted by two male suspects who allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area.

The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical assistance.

Police conducted an extensive search for the suspects, resulting in the arrest of an 18-year-old Puna man and a 14-year-old boy for the offense of first-degree robbery.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section and the Juvenile Aid Section are continuing the investigation.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the robbery call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
