A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL DEVELOP NORTH OF THE ISLANDS TONIGHT…AND TRACK OVER THE ISLANDS ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. THE LOW WILL BRING MUCH COLDER AIR TO HIGHER ELEVATIONS…ALONG WITH A CHANCE FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL…LIGHTNING…STRONG WINDS WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW…AND BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILLS TO THE SUMMITS OF MAUNA LOA AND MAUNA KEA.

IT IS TOO EARLY TO BE SPECIFIC ON THE TIMING OF ANY HEAVY SNOW OR ACCUMULATIONS. HOWEVER…THE POTENTIAL FOR DANGEROUS SUMMIT CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST THURSDAY MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. TRAVEL TO THE SUMMITS MAY BECOME VERY DANGEROUS ON WEDNESDAY. CHECK THE LATEST FORECASTS… ROAD CONDITIONS…AND CLOSURE NOTICES BEFORE HEADING UP TO THE SUMMITS.
