Fire destroys one room home on Kona coffee farm Wednesday (Oct 19)

Firefighters responded to a 10:05 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Oct 19) to St. Paul’s Road in the Honalo area of Kona for a structure fire.

Crews arrived to find a one room residence engulfed in flames on a coffee farm. The building, about 400 square feet in size, had flames coming out of the roof.

Firefighters had the blaze quickly under control. The fire destroyed the building and contents leaving only the foundation intact.

The resident was not in the home at the time and the American Red Cross will be assisting them.

There were no injuries reported, the loss is reported to be $50,000 with $10,000 saved in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
