Police locate Hilo man reported missing

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for a 57-year-old man who was reported missing.

Sandy Phaylim was last seen at his Hilo home at 6:15 Monday morning (December 22). He has medical conditions that require medication.

He is described as 5-foot-11, 250 pounds with brown eyes and black-and-white hair. He has several tattoos: a leaf on his upper left arm, the words “PEACE” and “LOVE” on his lower arm, the word “JOB” on his right thigh and the word “CORB” on his left thigh. He was last seen wearing a fluorescent green dry-fit T-shirt and multi-color shorts. He was wearing no shoes and walks with a slight limp.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.

Hawaiʻi Island police have located 57-year-old Sandy Phaylim, who was reported missing. He was found unharmed Monday evening (December 22) in Hilo.
