This year, the Kailua-Kona Community Christmas Parade has 77 entries and approx. 1,800 participants including a 20 horse unit for our Grand Marshal Barbara Nobriga, who has been very active in our community, what with the Kona 4-H Equine program, restoration projects at Hulihee Palace and Kamehameha’s Birthplace in Keauhou.

The parade begins at 5 p.m. taking the traditional route.

Also, this year is Rotary’s 1st Annual Menehune Holiday Food Drive, with its goal of raising both money and food, equivalent to 100,000 pounds of food. We will be at 11 supermarkets on the morning and afternoon of the parade, as well as having collection points all along the parade route for both parade participants and parade spectators.

We hope people will bring a can of food to the parade, as you know it all adds up. In addition to Rotary, major contributions in volunteer help from the Lions Club of Kona, Hawaii Volunteer Fire Dept. #7 Bravo, Windermere Realty, and Royal Hawaiian Movers.
