Hawaii Island police want to inform you that Waimea Court is now accepting filings for Domestic Violence Restraining Orders.

Ex Parte Petitions for a TRO can now be dropped off at the South Kohala District Courthouse.  Petitioners do NOT have to go to Kona to file. 

If you are a victim of domestic violence and desire to seek a restraining order, the forms are available 24 hours every day at the Waimea police station located at 67-5185 Kamāmalu Street.

The County of Hawai‘i is pleased to announce that Governor David Ige and the State Department of Transportation have committed $19.5 million in federal (STIP) funds for the Māmalahoa Highway widening project in Waimea.

The current cost of the project is approximately $25 million, and the grant of $19.5 million in Federal Highway Administration Funds will be matched with a required 20%, or approximately $5 million, to be contributed by the County.

Police arrest and charge two in Waimea jewelry burglary

On (July 31), South Kohala patrol officers responded to a reported burglary at a residence in Kamuela. Officers learned that an unknown male entered the residence without permission and removed numerous high-value jewelry pieces, to include opal, emerald, gold, and diamond pieces.

The Department of Water Supply will be conducting a fire hydrant flow test on Pu‘u Huluhulu Road between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2017. The affected area may experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test.  Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.

Parker School raises $205K for their student financial aid program

Parker School held its 12th annual Kahiau auction gala for financial aid on March 4 at the Fairmont Orchid along the Kohala Coast. Over 250 people attended this evening event which raised approximately $205,000.
