Shark attack near Anaehoomalu Bay, area beaches are closed Tuesday (April 23)

At 9:15 a.m., Tuesday (April 23) Hawaii County Civil Defense announced a beach closure due to a shark attack in West Hawaii. The Fire Department reported a shark attack occurred off the coast near Anaehoomalu Bay (A Bay) around 8:30 a.m. this morning. The beaches in the vicinity are closed until further notice.

PUC approves rate increase for Waikoloa Resort water, wastewater, and irrigation systems

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (Commission) Tuesday (Jan 29) approved a Decision and Order for Hawaii Water Service’s (Hawaii Water) general rate case for its Waikoloa Resort water, wastewater, and irrigation systems, enabling the utility to increase annual revenues by $1.7 million over three years.

Inouye Highway to the Old Saddle Road junction at Mile Marker 43 to Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), detour through Waikoloa to Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19). Waimea through Kawaihae to Queen Kaahumanu Highway is open. Motorist traveling south, Mamalahoa Highway south (Route 11) is open.
