Season tickets for the 2011 University of Hawaii at Hilo Baseball Season are available by contacting the Vulcan Athletic Ticket Office at 974-7702 or vtickets@hawaii.edu. 

Prices are $70 (adults) and $50 (seniors 55+). Daily general admission prices are $8 (adults), $6 (seniors 55+), $4 (students 12+) and $2 (UHH or Hawaii Community College students with University ID cards).

University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Baseball Head Coach Joey Estrella will headline the first 2011 Vulcan Athletic Club Luncheon at noon on Tuesday, January 11 in the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort Poly Room.

Lunches are $16 for a plated entrée and $12 for a soup and sandwich special. Call 974-7520 for luncheon reservations.

Estrella and two baseball players will discuss the upcoming season and the highly-competitive Pac West Conference followed by a question and answer period.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo opens the season with a fifth place finish at the Wildwood Lodge Invitational on the Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, MN.

The Vulcans took five strokes off of their first-round score to finish at 89-over-par 665 (335-330). Augustana won the tournament at 38-over-par, 614. They were followed by Nebraska-Omaha (631), Minnesota State (644), host Concordia (653), Hawaii Hilo, Upper Iowa (675), Winona State (679), Missouri Western (347), St. Cloud State (722), Bemidji State (764) and MSU Moorhead (814).

First-year UHH head coach Marc Miranda will be sleeping a little easier after the Vulcans opened his tenure with a 4-0 win over Chaminade University in a non-Pacific West Conference match on the UHH field.

"It feels good to just get the first game out of the way," said Miranda. "We wanted to keep the pressure on the whole time."

The Vulcans are 1-0 while the Silverswords are 0-1.

After a five-year hiatus, the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Vulcan Hall of Fame returns with a September 4th awards luncheon to give long over-due honors to three remarkable persons: the Vulcans' most victorious volleyball coach, a memorable basketball point guard and a softball marvel.

Former UH Hilo Volleyball Coach Sharon Peterson, point guard Mark Lovelace and catcher Melanie Hipwell will be inducted into the UH Hilo Athletic Vulcan Hall of Fame in a noon luncheon ceremony at the UHH Campus Center.  Doors will open at 11:30 am.

It took perfect execution to end the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s 2010 season as the Vulcans fell 2-1 in eight innings to Central Washington University in an NCAA Division II West Regional Championship game on Howard A. Okita Field in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

The Vulcans season ends at 35-16 while the Wildcats improved to 38-14.

Keoni Manago earned his third straight top award after claiming Player of the Year honors in 2009 and Freshman of the Year accolades in 2008. He also has made the All-PacWest First Team for the second straight season.

The junior outfielder is currently ranked sixth in hitting with a .403 average after going 60 for 149 at the plate. He has scored 29 runs, doubled seven times, ripped a triple and homered five times. He owns a .564 slugging rate, a .467 on-base mark, 16 walks, 12 steals and 36 RBI.
