Guillen is named UH-Hilo Athletic Director

University of Hawai`i at Hilo Chancellor Donald Straney today announced his selection of Patrick Guillen as athletic director. The appointment, pending approval by UH President David Lassner after public posting on the August Board of Regents’ agenda, will be effective August 21, 2015.

Free admission to Vulcans games for youth organizations

The University of Hawaii at Hilo athletic department is offering free admission to youth organizations for the 2014 home baseball and softball seasons. Children 12- and-under wearing team or organization uniforms may enter home games for free. Organizations invited to participate include youth sports teams, boy and girls scouts, etc.

Tennis player Randy Kunimoto, basketball player Scott Prather and KTA Super Store President and Chief Executive Officer Barry Taniguchi comprise the 2012 University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcans Athletic Hall of Fame class.

This year’s induction dinner will be held on Wednesday, August 29 in the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort Polynesian Room. Tickets for the 5:30 p.m. event are $50 and available by calling 974-7700.

The Vulcan Athletic Club will hold its monthly luncheon on Tuesday, February 14 at  noon in the Palm Lounge room at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort.
