Burglars break into Volcano Village store, steal ATM machine

Hawaiʻi Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in providing information regarding the identification of two suspects involved in the theft of an ATM machine from a retail establishment on Volcano Village Road.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department will hold a community meeting on Tuesday, March 17, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Cooper Center in Volcano Village.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to meet the Police Department’s command staff and to discuss police related concerns with the police chief and commanders who oversee police operations in the Puna District.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 2:27 a.m. alarm for a structure fire at Volcano Village Post Office Saturday (Sept 19).

Upon arrival crews found a window that been pried open and smoke under the eaves of the building. Crews then gained entry via the front doors and extinguished the fire.
