The County of Hawai‘i’s HI5 Redemption Centers will resume normal business hours effective April 1, 2011, following the transfer of operations to a new vendor. Business Services Hawaii has been awarded the contract to operate the 10 Certified Redemption Centers located at county transfer stations. We thank you for your patience during the transition.

Most of Hawai`i County’s solid waste transfer stations will expand their hours of operation to be open 12 hours a day at least three days a week beginning August 1, 2010.

Nineteen transfer stations will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the days of the week they are currently open. Only the Hilo Transfer Station will have different hours: 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, to accommodate landfill operations.

Most County of Hawai‘i solid waste transfer stations will be scheduling early morning hours again to accommodate morning commuters with rubbish to dump.

The County’s Department of Environmental Management announced recently that on December 1, a new schedule would eliminate early morning hours at all transfer stations except Hilo, Kailua and Waimea to improve management of the stations and save costs.
