Residential green waste collection will change from Saturdays to Sundays. The last Saturday collection will be March 31, 2012 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, April 1, 2012, and on Sundays thereafter, green waste will be collected during normal operating hours, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Residential green waste collection will change from Saturdays to Sundays. The last Saturday collection will be March 31, 2012 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, April 1, 2012, and on Sundays thereafter, green waste will be collected during normal operating hours, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Kea‘au Recycling and Transfer Station and Water Spigot Facility is scheduled to close for one day on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, while construction crews continue work near the entrance to the facilities.

The renovation project at the site is nearly complete with an improved reuse facility, a new recessed recycling bin wall, improved traffic flow and landscaping.

Green waste collection will be temporarily suspended at the Puakō Recycling and Transfer Station beginning Tuesday, November 1, 2011, to remove a fire threat and enforce a ban on commercial green waste at the facility.

The transfer station will remain open three days a week according to its normal schedule for all other transfer station operations. However green waste has accumulated to amounts that could result in a combustion-generated fire and must be removed.

The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management is temporarily closing the White Goods Recycling Area at the Pāhoa Transfer Station due to ongoing construction at the site.

It is not known exactly when white goods (large appliances) recycling may resume at the site. It is anticipated that the closure will last a few months. The closure will allow construction to improve the facility to proceed as quickly as possible and shorten the temporary inconvenience to the residents.

To accommodate large volumes of rubbish normally disposed of on the day after Christmas and New Year’s, all County of Hawai‘i solid waste recycling and transfer stations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 26 and Saturday, January 2.

These special hours will apply to these two days only, and normal Saturday hours will resume on Saturday, January 9, 2010. All other solid waste rules and regulations apply.

The Kealakehe Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed all day on Saturday, October 10, 2009, due to road closures for the Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona.

This closure will affect all services including residential rubbish disposal, HI5 redemption, 2-Bin recycling, green waste recycling and scrap metal recycling.

Alternative services for HI-5 redemption, 2-Bin recycling and residential rubbish disposal are available at the Keauhou Transfer Station and Recycling Center.
