Big Island police are warning the public about recent car break-ins and thefts of pickup truck tailgates in Hilo. During the month of September, police investigated reports of 10 vehicle break-ins and six thefts of tailgates. In the tailgate thefts, which have occurred in various locations in Hilo, the thieves have targeted Toyota Tacoma trucks.
