On March 27 at about 4:20 p.m. the unidentified woman removed items from a Hilo retail establishment without paying for them. She is described as Caucasian-mix, short with a large build and long dark hair.

Volcano kidnapping results in charges for Kona man and woman

Hawaii County Police detectives have charged 21-year-old Angelea Maldonado of Kailua-Kona with shoplifting. She was released pending further investigation of the other offenses and after posting $250 bail on the shoplifting offense. On the same day, detectives charged Dane Frank Kendrick with shoplifting, first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping, and third-degree promoting a dangerous drug.

On November 3, an unidentified man and woman entered the Irie Hawaii Smoke Shop at 140 Kino'ole Street in Hilo between 11:40 a.m. and 12 p.m. They allegedly removed several items valued at more than $300. They were last seen leaving the store on foot.

Big Island police have charged a second suspect in connection with a shoplifting incident on July 23 at a surf shop in Pāhoa.


Lorilei Kaapela Brown, 35, of Hilo turned herself in at the Hilo police station Thursday morning (August 12). She was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
