NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate is accepting scholarship applications for the 2011 academic year. The application deadline is Jan. 17, 2011. 

"We want more students to pursue careers in aeronautics," said Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator for the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Parker School’s Smart Scholarship recipients for 2010-2014 include Lysha Matsunobu, Marie Jobes and Tiana Reynolds.  Smart Scholarships, available to incoming freshmen grant $8,500 annually to three students covering a majority of tuition for their freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior year at Parker School. Former University of Hawaii at Hilo basketball coach, Jimmy Yagi and his wife Jeanne have established the Coach Jimmy Yagi Basketball Scholarship Fund to benefit high-achieving student-athletes at UH Hilo. A total of $100,000 was raised by the Yagis, their friends and families and the UH Hilo Scholarship Matching Program for scholarship support.
