Kamehameha Avenue closed tonight for crews moving concrete barriers

Between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight, (October 20) Kamehameha Avenue will close from Ponahawai Street to the Canoe Landing entrance so crews can move concrete barriers. The Pauahi Street/Bayfront Highway intersection will remain open, however; no turns will be allowed on to Kamehameha Avenue.

Roadwork on Ponahawai Street in Hilo Friday (Sept 19)

The contractor will stripe parking stalls on Ponahawai Street in Downtown Hilo from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014. Street parking will be suspended for only part of the day, just until the stalls are marked then parking will resume. The contractor will start from the Kamehameha Avenue intersection and work uphill.

State suspends all DOT roadwork due to Hurricanes

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises motorists that all state highways roadwork is suspended from tonight, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 10 on Hawaii Island, Maui and Oahu due to Hurricane Iselle and Julio. Road work resuming Monday, Aug. 11 is weather dependent.

Kilauea Avenue roadwork to begin Sunday (March 2)

Roadwork to change the Ohuohu Street and E Puainako intersection to an all way stop is near completion.  The conversion could happen Wednesday, October 17, weather permitting.  

Once the change is made, motorists approaching this intersection will be required to stop. 

Stop signs will be installed on E Puainako and turn lanes removed.

Ohuohu Street and East Puainako intersection soon to become an all way stop
