Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) still closed due to Waikoloa brushfire Saturday (Aug 4)

For motorists traveling between Hilo and Kona, use Daniel K. Inouye Highway to the Old Saddle Road junction at Mile Marker 43 to Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), detour through Waikoloa to Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19). Waimea through Kawaihae to Queen Kaahumanu Highway is open. Motorist traveling south, Mamalahoa Highway south (Route 11) is open.

Several road closures due to Waikoloa brushfire

Road closures due to heavy rain on Hawaii Island

This is a Civil Defense Heavy Rain and Road Closure message for Thursday evening, January 25th, at 7:15 p.m. The National Weather Service reports heavy rain conditions are expected to continue through tomorrow for Hamakua, Hilo and Puna areas of Hawaii Island.

Hilo road closures during 4th of July holiday

The Hawaiʻi Police Department would like to inform all motorist of the July 4th festivity road closures. Bayfront Highway (Route 19) from Waiānuenue Avenue to Pauahi Street will be closed (July 4), from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Motorists may use Kamehameha Avenue as an alternate route.

Mamalahoa and Daniel K. Inouye Highways open to traffic

The Hawai’i Police Department reports that Route 190 and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (New Saddle Road) is now fully open. The highways were previously closed due to several brush fires being actively fought by the Hawai’i Fire Department and military personnel.
