Utah hikers rescued from Pololu Valley area after being stranded by high tide

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 12:58 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Dec 4) to Pololu Valley for hikers stranded on the shoreline. Two hikers, a 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man from Utah, had gotten stranded on the rocky shoreline between Pololu and Honokane Valleys when the rising tide cut-off their path out.

Fire/Rescue crews answered a 1:23 a.m. alarm Sunday (Dec 3) to Honokane Nui Valley in North Kohala for two stranded hikers.

Five hikers were in Honokane Nui Valley and although three hikers, a female and two males, were able to hike out to the Pololu Lookout two female hikers were stranded by rising waters.

Fire/rescue crews answered a 3:49 alarm Friday (Oct 13) to Hilo Bay for a swimmer in distress.

Fire dispatch received a call reporting a woman in her late 20s seen leaving the Wailoa River mouth heading towards a green channel marker about a mile off shore. The witness lost sight of the woman and became concerned about her welfare and called 9-1-1.
