Red Flag Warning due to critical fire weather conditions

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Red Flag Warning due to critical fire weather conditions from noon today through 6 p.m. this evening. The warning is for the Ka‘u, Kona, Kohala, Big Island interior areas along with Leeward areas of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai and Maui.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning for leeward sections of all Hawaiian islands due to low humidity and gusty winds. The warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday (Nov 27).

Winds are forecast to come from the Notheast at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Relative humidity levels in leeward areas is around 40 percent with temperatures about 80F.

Low humidity and strong winds have made the threat of wildfires possible. Humidty is forecast to be as low as 44 percent with tradewinds blowing at 15-25 mph with higher gusts.

The Red Flag Warning also extends to leeward areas of all Hawaiian Islands.
