Chief Harry S. Kubojiri has promoted Mitchell Kanehailua to the rank of major and assigned him to the Area II Operations Division in West Hawaiʻi. Kanehailua, who joined the Police Department in 1984, has held previous assignments in Kona, Hilo, South Kohala, Hāmākua, Laupāhoehoe and Puna.

Chief Harry S. Kubojiri has promoted Randy Apele to the rank of major, effective Monday, May 17. Apele is now assigned to Area II Operations in West Hawaii. He replaces John Dawrs, who retired at the end of last year. Before Apele’s promotion, he was captain of the Hāmākua and North Hilo Districts.
