Hawaiʻi Police received a complaint of individuals trespassing in residence at the 8400 block of Koa Lane in Ocean View on, (January 25), at 10:30 a.m. Police learned that a caretaker discovered evidence of someone living in a residence he was caring for without permission and asked the police for assistance in checking the property.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department would like to thank the public for providing information, tips, and assistance that lead to the apprehension of Ian Andrew Parker. Fire destroys structure in Ocean View Saturday (Nov 26)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:34 p.m. alarm Saturday (Nov 26) to 92-8730 Lehua Lane in Ocean View for a structure fire. Crews arrived to find a single story 30-by-60 foot unpermitted structure engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 4 p.m. and it was reported to be out at 5:59 p.m.

A Kaʻū man died Monday (April 25) after police responded to a report of a shooting.

He has been identified as 46-year-old Jonathan Watson of Ocean View.

At 9:51 a.m. Monday, the Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a man who said he had been shot. When officers arrived at a home on the 92-2600 block of Hukilau Drive in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision, a man with a bandage on his left leg came out of the house in an aggressive manner and began fighting with the officers. The officers took him into custody.
