A power outage affecting the Hawi area of North Kohala is scheduled for Wednesday night, November 30, from 11:00 p.m. to approximately 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Power will be HELCO announces that power along Kohala Mountain Road, Hawi Road, Kynnersley Road and Akoni Pule Highway (north of the 10 mile marker) will be shut-off from 10 p.m. Thursday (Nov 17) until 5 a.m. Friday (Nov 18). A North Kohala man has been charged with methamphetamine trafficking and other offenses. On Friday (April 1), officers from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant at the Kapa’au home of 58-year-old Kenneth Tomomitsu. Officers recovered 94.7 grams of packaged methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia, including digital scales and associated paraphernalia.
