Caltech is proceeding to decommission the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory (CSO) on Hawaii Island’s Maunakea. CSO began operations in 1987 and ceased scientific observations in September 2015.

The National Weather Service reports a Flash Flood Warning is now in effect for Hawaii Island until 11:15 a.m. A Flash Flood Warning means dangerous flooding is occurring or imminent; and may pose a threat to life and property. Heavy thunder showers are expected to continue through today.

Police have identified the female who died from injuries sustained in a one car crash Sunday (March 12) on Mauna Kea Access Road. She was identified as 35-year-old Aurelie Vincent of Vienne, France. Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Officer Erhard Autrata at 961-8118 or email: erhard.autrata@hawaiicounty.gov.
