Woman falls 50 feet onto Laupahoehoe hiking trail, airlifted to hospital

Fire/rescue units responded to a 1:04 p.m. alarm Wednesday (Jan 2) to the Old Laupahoehoe Point Road hiking trail for a woman who fell off a cliff. The 53 year-old woman was reported to have slipped and fallen off a cliff behind her home’s yard landing 50 feet below onto the trail below.

Car and body of driver found in Laupahoehoe area river Monday (Dec 31)

Fire/rescue crews answered a 1:34 p.m. alarm to Papaaloa in the Laupahoehoe area to search for a missing person. The fire department’s Chopper 1 spotted the missing person’s car in a river. Rescue crews found the body of the driver about 100 yards downstream of the car.
