Light 4.2M quake strikes Southwest of Lanai, no tsunami threat

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) recorded a magnitude-4.2 earthquake located southwest of the Island of Moloka‘i on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 2:37 a.m., HST. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has determined that no damaging tsunami was generated.

Police locate two-year-old boy last seen with Big Island woman

Hawaiʻi Island police have located a missing 2-year-old Lanaʻi boy, who was in the company of his non-custodial father and grandmother in Puna. Detectives from the Area I Juvenile Aid Section found all three Tuesday afternoon at a home on Pomaikai Street in the Leilani Estates subdivision.

A minor earthquake occurred at 2:12:45 PM (HST) on Thursday, February 24, 2011. The temblor was felt and widely reported by people on Oahu and on Molokai.

The earthquake was originally reported by the USGS to have an center of the quake south of Lanai but was revised with the epicenter in the Kaiwi Channel between Oahu and Molokai.
