The Friendly Place Resource Center, located at 74-5593 Pawai Place in Kona, offers emergency housing, showers, lockers, phone usage, and other resources for people experiencing homelessness in Kona. The campus is operated by HOPE Services Hawaii. 26 Lions Club members and 2 community helpers were present.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is proud to participate again in a backpack drive for children who cannot afford to buy them. As in previous years, all police stations around the island will double as drop-off points for persons interested in helping children in need. Backpacks may be dropped off between now and August 30.

The Zonta Club of Hilo recently helped women at the HOPE Services Resource Center feel magnificent for the day. “The Magnificent Me!†project helped women returning from incarceration as well as living in HOPE’s homeless shelter build self-esteem.

Almost 30 Hilo Zontians took part in the workday April 28 as part of the Weinberg Friends Program. In return for the sweat equity, Zonta became the conduit of $10,000 of Weinberg funds to HOPE.
