A HÅnaunau woman was arrested Monday (August 1) after she allegedly tried to run her ex-boyfriend’s pickup truck off the road in Kailua-Kona. At 6:15 p.m. Monday, police received a report of what was described initially as a road rage incident on Palani Road.

A 36-year-old HÅnaunau man was killed Monday (June 27) from injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle crash at Keahole International Airport in Kailua-Kona. The victim was identified as Newton K. Leslie of a Honaunau address.

Big Island police have arrested a suspect in the July 7 assault of a 50-year-old Captain Cook man on Painted Church Road in South Kona. Twenty-one-year-old Drosstain Edward Pua of Kona was arrested Monday morning (July 12)and charged Monday afternoon with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and violating terms of release on bail.

The Department of Public Works, Traffic Division has converted this intersection to a three-way stop at Middle Ke‘ei Road & Painted Church Road. This is being done to make the intersection safer because of the limited sight distance at this location in South Kona.

Big Island police have released a Honoka’a woman who was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, terroristic threatening and assault. After conferring with prosecutors, police released 35-year-old Kuulei Aloha Ancheta at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday (June 15) pending further investigation. Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation.
