Firefighters responded to a 10:05 a.m. alarm Wednesday (Oct 19) to St. Paul’s Road in the Honalo area of Kona for a structure fire. HELCO completes repairs to utility pole in Honalo after morning crash

Hawai‘i Electric Light crews have completed the replacement of a transmission pole on Kuakini Highway near Ka‘alele Street in Honalo. The pole was damaged in a motor vehicle accident earlier this morning and required a partial lane closure while the pole was being replaced.

Weak 3.8M quake in Kona shakes Big Island Saturday night (Dec 7)

An earthquake was felt around the Big Island at about 10:27 p.m. Saturday (Dec 7). The temblor was felt in the Volcano area, Ka‘u, Kona and Waimea. Data from the U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.8 magnitude quake.
