A 32-year-old Hilo man is in custody following a motor vehicle chase yesterday, (March 7). Hawaiʻi Police were looking for Matthew Arnold Chavaries of Hilo who was wanted on various traffic criminal offenses that included resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle.

Students from Pace University’s Media, Communications and Visual Arts (MCVA) department will be visiting Hawaii to conduct interviews and capture footage for their upcoming documentary, “Living on the Edge in Paradise.†The documentary team, 20 students and two professors, will be staying in Hilo from March 17 – 23, 2019.

Police have charged a 39-year-old Hilo man for various drug offenses. On (March 1), after conferring with prosecutors, Anthony Ramirez was charged with second-degree Promoting a dangerous drug, third-degree promoting a detrimental drug and prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia. Ramirez’s bail was set at $5,250 and he was released after posting bond.
