Portion of Iwalani and Kawailani Street intersection closed for construction September 8-9, 2018

A continuous 24-hour road closure will begin on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 6 a.m. and continue through Sunday, September 9, 2018, at 6 p.m., weather conditions permitting. A portion of Iwalani St., to include both lanes, from the Iwalani/Kawailani Streets intersection heading approximately 400 feet in the direction of Puainako St. will be closed.

Film ‘Saving ʻŌhiʻa, Hawaii’s Sacred Tree’ to air statewide in August and September

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) announces the release of “Saving ʻŌhiʻa, Hawaii’s Sacred Tree,” a new half-hour documentary on Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death, the disease that is killing ʻōhiʻa lehua, Hawaii’s most widespread and important native tree.

Meeting on commercial helicopter flights over residential areas set for Tuesday (Aug 14)

The Hawaii Department of Transportation, Airports Division (HDOT) will be holding a public information meeting on commercial helicopter flights over the residential areas of Hilo. HDOT, Federal Aviation Administration Western Region, and Hawaii Helicopter Association representatives will be present to receive community input and answer questions. Community members are encouraged to attend.
