Missing inmate Kaimiloa arrested and returned to HCCC

Missing Big Island extended furlough inmate Coburn Kaimiola Jr. has been returned to HCCC. Coburn Kaimiola was arrested on a warrant by Hawaii Police on November 21. He was returned to HCCC yesterday. On July 11, 2013, Coburn Kaimiola left a Kona extended furlough house without authorization.

Visitations cancelled at three Big Island correctional facilities Saturday (Sept 6)

Visits have been cancelled on the Big Island of Hawaii for: Punahele, Komohana These units are rescheduled for Sunday. Hale Nani, Waianuenue, afforded visits today. Kulani Correctional Facility Visits have been cancelled due to staffing shortages. To find out more about visitation schedules for each facility go to dps.hawaii.gov

Police nab escapee Jarvis Higa in Ka‘u Friday morning (Dec 7)

On December 7, 2012, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a joint task force apprehended Hawaii Community Correctional Center escapee Jarvis Higa, 35 years-old, in Ocean View, Ka‘u, after he attempted to flee a residence on foot. Higa was arrested for multiple charges including escaping from the Hawaii County Correctional Center.
