According to Hawaii County Civil Defense Director Darryl Oliveria the State Highways Department asked that the bridge be closed until they can check the footings. Due to the recent heavy rains crews would like to check the base of the temporary bypass bridge but heavy water flow has delayed inspections.

Hawai‘i Electric Light announces it will begin construction along Highway 19 between the 24-mile marker in PÄpa‘aloa and the 27-mile marker in LaupÄhoehoe on the HÄmÄkua Coast. One lane will be closed to traffic along sections of the highway from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily starting November 7, 2015.
