Average gas prices in Hawaii rise 2.2 cents per gallon the past week

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have risen 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $4.30/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.50/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Starting with 2012 model year vehicles, the rules together require automakers to improve fleet-wide fuel economy and reduce fleet-wide greenhouse gas emissions by approximately five percent every year. NHTSA has established fuel economy standards that strengthen each year reaching an estimated 34.1 mpg for the combined industry-wide fleet for model year 2016.
