The Waiakea Warriors were too much for host Christian Liberty Academy at Wainaku Gym. The Warriors beat the Canefire in straight sets 25-2, 25-8, 25-7 during BIIF girls varsity volleyball.

In BIIF girls volleyball it was a David versus Goliath match. Unlike the fairytale, the St. Joseph’s Lady Cardinals (David) were unable to defeat the stronger Waiakea Warriors (Goliath). The D-I Warriors made quick work by defeating the D-II Lady Cardinals in straight sets.

The game was filled with great plays by both teams as well as momentary defensive laps by each team. The Cardinals came out strong in the first game defeating the Daggers. However, Pahoa came back strong.

The gym was a filled with fans who cheered every point by the two battling teams. Both the Kamehameha Warriors and the host Waiakea Warriors played inspired volleyball, showing great defense and hard hits at the net. At the end it was a sweep by Waiakea who defeated Kamehameha in three straight games.

Both Christian Liberty Academy and St. Joseph’s are in a rebuilding year, having each lost the majority of their starters. Both teams desparately needed their first win for the season, and that desparation translated into a very exciting game for the fans tonight.
