The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Big Island until 2:30 a.m. Monday (Jan 6). At 11:18 p.m. weather radar showed heavy rain in a thunderstorm near Ookala or about 26 miles Northwest of Hilo.

Flash Flood Warning cancelled, Daniel K. Inouye Hwy open but detoured on West end

Flash Flood Warning for the Big Island has been cancelled. Police report traffic is still being detoured over the old section of Saddle Road through Waikii as water and debris have closed the Western portion of the Daniel K. Inouye Highway.
