Fire burns Puna home early Wednesday morning, no injuries reported

Fire/rescue crews answered a 12:42 a.m. alarm Wednesday (April 11) to 15-2755 Opihi St. in Puna for a structure fire. Firefighters found a single-story home with a pickup truck, garage, and kitchen engulfed in flames. Crews had the blaze under control by 1:05 a.m. and it was out by 1:15 a.m.

Fire/rescue responded to an 11:01 a.m. alarm Friday (Jan 26) to 16-1962 Uilani Drive in Puna for a structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a vacant single-story home on fire with the front 25 percent of the home burning with flames in the entrance and front room.

Police investigate three suspiciously started fires in West Hawaii Monday (Jan 22)

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying anyone who may have information about the cause of three suspicious fires that occurred today, (January 22). The fires were located on Waikoloa Road and Hawaiʻi Belt Road (also known as Route 190).

Fire in Hilo burns third floor apartment, displaces residents

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Dec 12) to 270 Ululani Street in Hilo for an apartment fire. Crews arrived to find a third floor apartment with its bedroom engulfed in flames. The fire sent flames into the attic of the three-story apartment building over the neighboring unit.

Hawaiʻi Island police dispatch received a 911-Emergency Call reporting a structure fire at 06:11 a.m. in Kona this morning, (November 3).

The fire spread from the south side of the two-story residence, but no other surrounding homes were damaged. Upon extinguishing the fire, fire crew members found the body of a male victim within the lower unit of the structure.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 6:10 a.m. alarm Friday (Nov 3) for a structure fire at 73-1083 Oluolu Street in Kona that claimed one life.

Crews found the four bedroom two-story home engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 6:45 a.m. and it was declared out at 7:10 a.m. The 3,000 square-foot home had an estimated $210,000 worth of damage with $240,000 worth of property saved.

Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating a shooting incident and structure fire at a Puna residence Tuesday evening, (October 24).

At 7:03 p.m.,  police and fire department personnel responded to a report of a house fire on Rainbow Drive in the Ainaloa Subdivision. The resident, a 35-year-old man, told police that when he returned home, an unidentified intruder inside the house shot at him before the suspect fled on foot. Shortly thereafter, the victim heard an explosion on the outside of the house that set the structure on fire.
