Volcano kidnapping results in charges for Kona man and woman

Hawaii County Police detectives have charged 21-year-old Angelea Maldonado of Kailua-Kona with shoplifting. She was released pending further investigation of the other offenses and after posting $250 bail on the shoplifting offense. On the same day, detectives charged Dane Frank Kendrick with shoplifting, first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping, and third-degree promoting a dangerous drug.

A Kailua-Kona man was arrested and charged with numerous offenses stemming from alleged actions against his estranged wife on two consecutive days.

Curtis L. Warner is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $129,250 bail pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Tuesday (June 21).

On Friday, Police received a report that Warner illegally entered his estranged wife's sports-utility vehicle in Kailua-Kona around 3:30 p.m. and removed a backpack belonging to a 25-year-old Kailua-Kona man.

A burglary investigation in Kona has led to three arrests for burglary, drug offenses or both.

Responding to a condominium on Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona on Friday (September 3), police learned that three units had been burglarized. In one of the units, police found items from one of the other units, along with drug paraphernalia and identification belonging to 19-year-old Sarah Duarte of Kailua-Kona, who didn't live in the condo.

Prosecuting Attorney Jay T. Kimura announced today that on August 31, 2010, Jacob Kaneshiro, a 38 year-old resident of Mountain View, Hawaii, was sentenced to ten years in prison for the offense of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Second Degree.
