As of 11 p.m. HST Saturday (July 23) the center of Darby was located about 55 miles (85 km) west of Kailua-Kona moving west-northwest at 10 mph (17 km/h).

Tropical Storm Warning as Darby will pass over Hawaii Island, emergency shelters open

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Hawaii Island and Maui County. The center of Darby is forecast to pass over Hawaii Island on Saturday then Maui Saturday night.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Captain of the Port, Capt. Michael Long, set Port Heavy Weather Condition X-RAY for all the ports on Hawai’i and Maui Islands and WHISKEY for ports on Oahu at noon today due to the current projected path of Tropical Storm Darby.

Darby heading to Hawaii, Tropical Storm Warning activated Thursday (July 21)

At 11 p.m. Thursday (July 21) the Central Pacific Hurricane Center upgraded the watch to a Tropical Storm Warning for Hawaii Island. A Tropical Storm Watch continues for Maui County. Tropical Storm force winds are possible over Hawaii Island and portions of Maui county.

Hot, muggy weather to continue, more tropical cyclones spawn in the Pacific

Hot and muggy conditions will continue into the beginning part of this week. The remnant low of former Tropical Cyclone Celia will continue to move west, passing north of the islands.
