Anti-Meth pledge contest sponsored by Hawaii Police Activities League

Police Chief Harry Kubojiri has again asked the Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL) program to reach out to intermediate schools islandwide to engage in a friendly competition to create a pledge against “ice” use. The winning pledge will be used and uttered by participants before the 32nd Annual Winter Basketball Classic being held December 26-29.

On Friday (April 1), officers from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant at the Kapa'au home of 58-year-old Kenneth Tomomitsu. Officers recovered 94.7 grams of packaged methamphetamine and associated paraphernalia, including digital scales and associated paraphernalia.

Vice officers served a warrant on 28-year-old Dawn Delatorre-Ganon around noon Wednesday in a shopping center parking lot in Hilo. Police recovered 5.2 grams of "ice," a digital scale, empty resealable plastic packets and an ice pipe from her person. They recovered an additional 0.4 grams of the drug in the pickup truck in which she was sitting with 46-year-old Jacqueline "Jackie" Markham. Both women were arrested at the scene.

The Kona Community Policing Section of the Hawai'i Police Department is holding two Neighborhood Watch meetings — one for North Kona and one for South Kona — for "active coordinators" and for persons interested in forming or joining a Neighborhood Watch. Big Island police charged two men and a woman with methamphetamine trafficking Monday (August 2).

The charges stem from a vehicle Puna Police officers stopped on Pāhoa Village Road early Monday morning. An alert by a narcotic canine detection team led to a search warrant by Area I Vice Section officers and the recovery of 52.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Police also recovered glass pipes, a digital scale, numerous re-sealable plastic bags and approximately $1,800 in cash.

Three adults were arrested for drug offenses at a Kamuela home Monday afternoon (July 26).

At 4:35 p.m., investigators from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant at a Kamamalu Street home, where they recovered approximately 220 grams (7 ¾ ounces) of crystal methamphetamine, 0.5 grams of powdered cocaine, 87 grams of dried marijuana, zip packets and digital scales.

The Hawai'i Police Department's Area II Ice Task Force officers have charged five individuals who were arrested following the execution of a search warrant on a residence in the Francolin Subdivision in Waikoloa on Friday (May 28).

As a result of the search warrant, officers recovered approximately 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine or "ice" packaged in zipped packets, several glass smoking pipes, digital weighing scales, other related paraphernalia, residual amounts of cocaine, 484.2 grams of dried marijuana, 12 marijuana plants ranging in height from 6 inches to 3 feet, numerous pharmaceutical pills, a loaded .25 caliber handgun and ammunition.
