A 71-year-old Kailua-Kona woman was involved in a two-vehicle traffic casualty on (August 17), on Highway 190 at the 33-mile marker in Kailua-Kona.

She has been positively identified as Bernadette Chock.

Responding to a 2:40 p.m. call, police determined that a 2009 Nissan Frontier operated by a 48-year-old Kailua-Kona man had been traveling north on Highway 190 when he crossed left of center and struck head on with a 2007 Honda CR-V being operated by Chock who was traveling south on Highway 190.

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:36 p.m. alarm Wednesday (Aug 16) to an area near the 88 mile marker of Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) for a head-on collision.

A full-sized truck and an SUV collided head-on which resulted in the driver of the truck, who appeared to be in his 30s, having multiple injuries and being trapped in the truck.

Autopsies conducted on (May 19), determined that the male operator and passenger of the 1998 Toyota 4Runner involved in a fatal traffic collision in Kona, died from injuries sustained in the accident. 

At the time of autopsy, the positive identification of both males was pending the results of DNA identification.

Police identify driver killed in Hilo crash Tuesday (July 18)

Police have identified the woman who died from injuries sustained in the single vehicle crash (July 18), on Highway 19 near Nahala Street in Hilo. She was identified as 22-year-old Micaila Tellio of Hilo. This is the 21st traffic fatality this year compared with 12 at this time last year.
