Amber Waracka was one out away from a perfect game as the University of Hawaii at Hilo completed a series sweep of Brigham Young University-Hawaii in Pacific West Conference competition in Laie, Oahu.

The 7-0 and 4-0 victories are the end of the Vulcans regular season. They finish with a 35-14 overall record and 23-9 record in the PacWest. The Seasiders are 4-34 and 4-26.

The Vulcans improve to 33-14 overall and 21-9 in the PacWest while the Seasiders are 4-32 overall and 4-24 in the PacWest.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo and Big Island Toyota are teaming up to fill up a Scion Hatchback for the Hawaii Food Bank.

On Saturday, January 16, the Vulcans host Brigham Young University-Hawaii in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader in the UHH gymnasium. The women face-off at 5:30 p.m. while the men match-up at 7:30 p.m.

The Vulcans improved to 3-7 while the Seasiders are 3-5.

Hina Kimitete led the Vulcans with 20 points and seven assists. Kayce Kirihara and Hotia Vaaimamao added 10 each.

Nina Hagemann and Kirsta Andrew finished 10th and 11th at the University of Hawaii at Hilo 6k Invitational to lead the Vulcans to a third place finish.

Hagemann finished the race in 26:44 followed by Andrew at 26.55.

Also competing for the Vulcans were Malia Williams (16th, 28:21), Lauren Vieira (21st, 29:37) and Lilliana DeSmither (24th, 31:13).
