Fire burns two-story structure in the Ainaloa area Sunday (Oct 7)

Firefighters answered a 7:12 p.m. alarm Sunday (Oct 7) to the intersection of Brookover Street and Aloha Court in Puna for a structure fire. Crews arrived to find a two-story structure on engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 8:55 p.m. and it was declared out at 9:30 p.m.

Fire burns vacant home in Puna Friday morning (Jan 26)

Fire/rescue responded to an 11:01 a.m. alarm Friday (Jan 26) to 16-1962 Uilani Drive in Puna for a structure fire. Firefighters arrived to find a vacant single-story home on fire with the front 25 percent of the home burning with flames in the entrance and front room.

Crews arrived to find a single-story, single family home with half of the structure engulfed in flames. Residents of the home had escaped the fire before crews arrived.

County installing sidewalks along Ainaloa Blvd in Puna

New sidewalks are being constructed along both sides of Ainaloa Blvd in Puna. The sidewalks will connect to Highway 130. Hawaiʻi County police are requesting the public’s help in locating a painting stolen during a burglary in Puna. The koa framed painting “Mystic Light” by Christian Reese Lassen was among several items removed from a home in the Ainaloa subdivision sometime between April and July.

Fire causes $8,000 damage to abandonded home in Puna Friday (Nov 23)

Christopher Robinson, the 39-year-old resident, was arrested after officers discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation, crystal methamphetamine or “ice”, the pipe bombs, and other bomb making materials at his residence.
