Hurricane Lane Red Cross evacuation center update for Friday (Aug 24)

Hawaii Red Cross volunteers are supporting the following County evacuation centers across the State in response to Hurricane Lane. As of Thursday night, there were a total of 1,526 people across 36 shelters statewide. Residents are encouraged to listen to their local County Civil Defense for further updates.

Red Cross evacuation shelters open for those seeking refuge from Hurricane Lane

The Hawaii State Department of Health is advising the public to stay out of streams, coastal, and standing waters that are contaminated by stormwater. Stormwater may contain harmful micro-organisms from overflowing cesspools or septic tanks as well as animal waste washed into streams and storm drains.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is proud to participate again in a backpack drive for children who cannot afford to buy them.
